About Us

Wild Roots was born from Nicki’s desire to provide her daughter with an educational setting that blends the adventure of homeschooling with the enriching experience of group learning. Her background in teaching kindergarten, reinforced by a master’s degree in elementary education gave her the confidence that she needed to build the learning environment she wanted for her daughter. She is passionate about protecting the natural love for learning that children have and allowing them the freedom to play and learn without pressures of comparison to their peers. She is deeply passionate about nurturing children’s natural curiosity, instilling a profound love for learning, and fostering unshakable confidence. We hope you will join us in the adventure!

Nicki Gorter

Hello! I’m Nicki, mom to Stella (5) and Levi (3.5). Being outdoors is where I feel most alive and inspired, and I am eager to blend my passion for teaching with outdoor adventures! I have nearly a decade of teaching experience, mostly in kindergarten. I’ve also enjoyed teaching in the Philippines, Indonesia and running summer camps for refugee youth. I have always loved working with children and love being able to play a small part in helping them become more confident and creative little humans. When I’m not in the classroom, you will find me playing beach volleyball at Alki, on walks with my kids, hiking or traveling. I am so excited about this journey and hope you will join us!
